It's not just your computer. The indexing program is experiencing technical difficulties. We apologize for the inconvenience. Our engineers are dedicating all hours, day and night, to this situation, and we hope to have the system back up soon.

You may still be able to index during this time. If you receive error messages, wait a few minutes and try again. If you want to take a break from indexing until everything is running smoothly again, we recommend using the new Family Tree feature on or searching for some records of your ancestors. Why not enjoy the fruits of your labors?

July 2, 2012: FamilySearch Indexers Leave a Legacy in a Record-setting Event

The final record count for the “5 Million Name Fame” event day is:
Indexed Records: 7,258,151
Arbitrated Records: 3,082,728
Total Records Worked: 10,340,879

On July 2, FamilySearch indexers and arbitrators from around the world joined together for 24 hours in what became a mind-boggling event in so many ways. Who could have guessed that we would MORE THAN DOUBLE what was already an aggressive indexing and arbitration goal to complete 5 million records? Simply unbelievable! In baseball terms, that’s an “out of the park grand slam!”
